We recently held our Third Annual Uncharted Hackathon. This year’s theme was “Visualizing the Environment.” Thirty staff members across nine multidisciplinary teams vied for Uncharted’s coveted Hackathon Championship belt.

An Uncharted research product for the visual analysis of massive graph data is featured in the pages and on the cover of the latest issue of Information Visualization, a leading peer-reviewed journal on the study and application of information visualization.

In October 2016, the U.S. Department of Commerce National Technical Information Service (NTIS) announced Uncharted’s selection as one of 35 partners in a new joint venture program to spur public sector data innovation.

Reporting on DARPA’s efforts to combat human trafficking, a recent Defense.gov post highlights TellFinder, Uncharted’s tool for exposing hidden connections in hard-to-search domain spaces. TellFinder XHT extends to the online escort advertisement domain by allowing investigators to search for identifying attributes that can reveal behaviors and identities of traffickers.
