Wacky Encodings for Humanities Visualization: Visualization conventions predispose researchers to see their data in terms of standard types. Getting beyond these conventions through graphical exploration offers a way to rethink data structures as well as analyses. We conducted a workshop based on a provocation to design alternative graphic tools that could produce unexpected outcomes compared to conventional visualizations.
